Color, Comfort, and Classic (with a little whimsicality mixed in) were the drivers for this sorority house remodel. The scope was a full remodel of the main living areas including two powder baths, two study rooms, entry, mailroom, entry hall, living room, circle of sisterhood room, garden room and TV room.

The gorgeous tudor revival style home was dark inside so the clients wanted to brighten everything. A colorful textile palette was chosen for each room. We lightened beams in the TV room to lift their heaviness, and added a concierge unit in the entry to help manage the many packages for the 80 sorority members. We designed and installed a trophy case to anchor the garden room wall. And we moved the piano and reconfigured the living room and adjacent “circle of sisterhood” room to accommodate increased seating and conversation spaces. The study rooms were space planned to accommodate group as well as individual study spaces, and a closet was converted to a test file center. The arrow is the symbol for this sorority, and it was playfully used throughout the design.

The result was a colorful facelift for most of the main floor living spaces, the addition of functional, beautiful furniture, new lighting to brighten and update the spaces, and clients in awe of their newly refreshed sorority home.

We were responsible for wall coverings, tile, carpet, new built-ins, plumbing, lighting, space planning, furniture, art, and accessories.
